Cancellation Policy

All workshops will incure a 10% cancellation fee. A cancellation fee of 50% of the workshop cost will be incurred by the participant if less than two working-days notice is given of a canceled booking. No refunds given for cancellations on date of workshop.

Final Cut Pro Workshops

The MRC Final Cut Pro workshops are back! Led by one of SA’s most popular and knowledgeable editors, Carly Turner, this weekend workshop is aimed at beginners and intermediate.

Seniors' Filmmaker Bootcamp

An intensive five-days hands on introduction to filmmaking including scriptwriting, shooting, sound recording and editing. Participants will learn the basics of filmmaking and then go and make some films. The films will screen as shorts before the feature film program.

Seniors Digital Storytelling

The Media Resource Centre is staging a brand new program of Seniors on Screen in 2011. With 20 fantastic feature films, a mixture of new releases, classics and contemporary favourites, as well as a handful of interesting forums and guest speakers including local filmmakers and award-winning writers.

Editing for Seniors

In this introduction to Final Cut Pro, you will learn how to set up your project, digitise and import, editing (including trimming, transitions and filters), adding titles, split screens, basic sound mixing and exporting to DVD or Web.

Sound Design for Seniors

You will learn how to enhance your projects utilising music, sounds and effects, record your own sounds, improve the quality of your audio recordings, an introduction to critical hearing, audio editing in Soundtrack Pro covering noise reduction/ fades/ groups and effects

Doco Essentials

Documentaries can be passionate and inspiring works of art, thrilling audiences with unique subjects and inventive forms. This course explores the essential tools to create insightful and engaging documentaries.

Producing for Short Film

This two-day workshop will cover the role and responsibilities of the short film producer. Participants will be guided through the producer’s process from pre-production to delivery. Using case studies as a base, the workshop will cover such things as rights and agreements, budgeting and financing, the Director/Producer relationship, pre-production, production, post-production and marketing & distribution.

Directing for Short Film

This two-day workshop covers the role and responsibilities of the director in film. Participants will be guided through the director’s role, aesthetics that inform a director’s craft, taking your script to screen, leading your team, casting your cast and crew, on-set etiquette, working with investors and practical workshops on working with actors. This workshop also covers case studies from concept to finished film and will involve a practical directing exercise.

Teachers Filmmaker Bootcamp

“Filmmaker Bootcamp” is an intensive five day workshop program that can be run for up to 16 participants.

The Teachers Filmmaker Bootcamp is specifically designed for all school teachers and will be particularly appealing to Digital Media, Media Studies, Film Studies and English school teachers and educators.
