Documentaries can be passionate and inspiring works of art, thrilling audiences with unique subjects and inventive forms. This course explores the persistence of vision that is required to turn documentary into an art and gives you the essential tools to create insightful and engaging documentaries.
This course is a highly interactive combination of information (tutor lectures plus handouts) and practical exercises. Participants will devise, shoot, and edit a group mini-documentary over the course of the weekend – a case study that will provide a step-by-step blueprint for future projects. We will also spend some time on how to write a pitch for your documentary ideas and where to go to apply for state and/or national funding.
All workshop participants will receive a DVD of the final project as well as digital resources for their future film making needs.
People interested in applying for the SciDocs production initiative later this year are strongly encouraged to attend.
Open to 12 participants only.
