The MRC supports entry level through to emerging filmmakers with a range of production initiatives running throughout the year. Filmmakers, digital media and other screen practitioners will find unique opportunities to refine their skills and develop their practice.

Currently we are running the following cash-funded production initiatives for MRC members in 2011:

3 x short films up to 10 min in length, produced in conjunction with Screen Australia

This initiative aims to assist emerging filmmakers to develop and produce engaging, entertaining short animations of up to 5 minutes in length in any genre.
Now in its ninth year, Raw Nerve is a joint initiative of Screen Australia and Screen Development Australia (SDA) to showcase the nation’s emerging filmmaking talent.

$25,000 _Next Step_ Initiative Now Open!! This exciting new program aims to assist 'establishing' MRC members develop and produce an engaging, entertaining short film - of up to 15 minutes in length in any genre - for international festival entry.
Could this be that ‘lightbulb' moment that sets you on the path to fame and fortune as a filmmaker?? The MRC, in conjunction with the SAFC, is once again offering $15,000 to fund up to TWO productions specifically for entry into the Movie Extra Tropfest 2012 film festival...
