The Members’ Production Group (MPG) is a professional development initiative of the MRC. The MPG makes it easier for MRC members to make films, videos and digital media projects, by providing fully subsidised access to MRC equipment and facilities.
In the past, the MPG supported the production of several independent short films and production initiatives, such as: The Company, an ensemble-based initiative conducted in partnership with AC Arts Performance, Flinders University and the Helpmann Academy, and File Open — an entry level initiative open to all types of projects, including short drama and documentary.
In 2009-10, the MPG launched a new initiative: Got Genre designed to encourage creativity and resourcefulness by supporting the production of low budget genre shorts in South Australia.
In 2010, the MPG, in conjunction with the MRC and the Mercury Cinema, hosted the 15/15 Film Festival — an annual event focused at providing emerging filmmakers worldwide with the excellent creative opportunity to make a short film that is up to 15 minutes in length in just 15 hours!
And in 2011, the MPG will be running an exciting, new subsidised initiative Clip It!, allowing 10 MRC members the opportunity to produce music video clips for upcoming SA bands.
